T-Mobile Grant

I've been working on the grant request and it requires specifics . After talking to a few people and taking photos of the park I have some thoughts on a plan to make the park more attractive and community friendly . Here are a few of them.

  1. When the ugly fence around the playground is removed replace with low iron or wood fence and plant butterfly native plants around it.

  2. Add pathway out of playground and position about 4 park benches along so family can watch the kids and have a place to relax . Continue pathway with some plantings toward where the 2 ugly sheds and big chair are.

  3. Have both sheds removed and replaced with a 3 season enclosed gazebo .

  4. Since there is water at that location include a water feature near the gazebo( fountain or small waterfall with solar pump). Have seating in the gazebo and displays that highlight monarch migration, local plants, First Nation contributions and early settlers. Use as much natural planting as possible .

  5. Perhaps some signs in the park highlighting wildlife and history .

During installation of the native plants and trees, the NHS students as well as Grow our Garden volunteers along with Village officials create a program to reclaim the native land and include a learning Educational center for Monarch butterflies & Pollinators and also First Nation settlers History.
